I'm one of the publishers of All About Romance. I love reading romance, as well as mysteries, fantasy, history and historical fiction, and all kinds of other things. Staying on Goodreads for now but trying this out in case I decide to switch.
I definitely liked this book better than my first foray into the series. The book starts off with a horrifying killing at a cloistered order of nuns. While gruesome, the author leaves just enough clues out there to make me want to follow the trail of the mystery. I also like how Gerritsen weaves seemingly unrelated threads of story together.
In addition, the book has that something extra - good characters. In The Apprentice, I felt like the reader never really got close to the main characters, but both Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles take on more layers in this novel. They start to seem more human, and more interesting. I wasn't too sure before, but now I'm definitely hooked into following more of the series.
