I'd actually give this one a 2.5 out of 5 stars. This was a book club read, and it just didn't work for me. The book starts off cleverly enough, and I had fun with the gimmicky nature of the writing for about the first third of the story. However, by the halfway mark, the overwritten descriptions started to catch up with it. I didn't find the characters particularly enchanting and the story seemed to go down paths that I thought Donna Tartt's The Secret History handled so much better. And - true confession time - I think I only skimmed the last 50 pages or so. By that point, I just wanted it to end. I'd had enough of Blue and her father, and I just couldn't make myself care about the story.
